Seed Treatment Guide

How to handle and manage treated seed effectively

The SeedGrowthâ„¢ team at Bayer is proud to have contributed to The Guide to Seed Treatment Stewardship, an all-in-one guide for handling and managing treated seed effectively.

The Guide is the product of industry-wide collaboration between seed companies, seed treatment providers and universities – and draws on data collected worldwide. Produced jointly by the American Seed Trade Association and CropLife America, the Guide aims to provide farmers and seed companies with important information and up-to-date guidelines for effectively managing treated seeds in order to minimize the risk of exposure to non-target organisms. The Guide is made all the more valuable by the fact that so many seed treatment specialists have contributed, e.g. as partners and sponsors Syngenta, the American Farm Bureau Federation, the National Corn Growers Association, the American Soybean Association and the Agricultural Retailers Association.

The main topics tackled by the Guide are:

  • Safe use of seed treatment products
  • Safe handling and transport of treated seeds
  • Environmental stewardship
  • Selection of treatment product
  • Commercial application of seed applied technology
  • Treated seed labeling
  • Storage of seed treatment products and treated seeds
  • Planting of commercially treated seed

In line with advances in seed treatment technology, resource development and the changing needs of the seed and crop production value chain, the Guide will be updated to ensure seed companies and growers have access to the latest seed treatment management information.
