ESA 2016 Annual Meeting in Rome

Representing SeedGrowth in the eternal city

This year’s European Seed Association (ESA) Annual Meeting, which took place in Rome from October 9 to 11, drew a record attendance of more than 1,000 representatives from Europe and all over the world. As Silver Partner, Bayer SeedGrowth™ was also in Italy’s capital to discuss the latest innovations in seed applied technologies – and present its unique fourfold competence.
The ESA Annual Meetings have been hosted in Europe’s most fascinating cities. Just take the last four years, for example: 2013 in Warsaw, 2014 in Lisbon, last year in Vienna and this year Rome. The 2016 event took place in the Cavalieri Waldorf Astoria, one of Rome’s most prestigious hotels – and also home to an impressive art collection. “The location couldn’t have been better,” says Martin Gruss, Global Head SeedGrowth at Bayer. “And I’m proud to say that our booth was one of the hotspots at this year’s meeting,” he adds. “We had many interesting discussions.”

As one of the most important events for the European and international seed sector, it is naturally vital for SeedGrowth to be present at the ESA Annual Meeting. “It’s always a good opportunity to catch up on the latest industry developments, such as technical equipment,” says Andreas Knupp, SeedGrowth Portfolio Manager EMEA. One such technology presented is SweepAir, a state-of-the-art technology developed by Bayer for minimizing dust emissions from pneumatic corn-sowing machines.

True to the campaign motto ‘Make your seeds perform best’, all competence areas of Bayer’s SeedGrowth business were showcased in Rome. “It’s usually the equipment that catches the greatest attention,” Martin Gruss surmises. However, SeedGrowth not only offers equipment but also services, products and coatings – adding up to a holistic approach for every seed treatment discipline. “Our fourfold competence is definitely a major benefit. This year, coatings was a topic that came up very often, especially at our booth,” says Martin Gruss. “Who knows what the topics of conversation will be next year. I, for one, am already looking forward to it.”

The next ESA Annual Meeting will take place from October 8 to 10, 2017 in Riga, Latvia.
